The Catalyst Group www.catgroupinc.com is working with a strong and steadily growing medical device client to identify and evaluate a Director of Software/Firmware Engineering. This Director will manage a group of 20 software and firmware engineers responsible for complex, integrated Medical Device system development as well as hold responsibility for strategic direction, recommending or creating a progressive vision for his or her group.

ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED: - Engineering degree (highly preferred: BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering) (or aerospace) experience with embedded software development (including an in depth understanding of the EE domain, embedded systems, and circuit design issues) with attention to process needs and full lifecycle; strong functional expertise in Object Oriented design methodologies; and 6+ years of direct management responsibilities for R&D software and firmware (using Verilog) engineers.

Highly Desired: Advanced degrees in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering; Verilog for verification and simulation; collaborative leadership style.
