Our client is located north of Los Angeles in South Central Kern County. They are looking for a savvy Procurement professional to strategically develop and remodel their Purchasing group while simultaneously handling all tactical functions. The Purchasing Manager will be (directly) responsible for a small group supporting the Maintenance and Production Departments of a pilot manufacturing / mining plant facility. The focus of this position will be on improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and the reliability of inventory. A large emphasis will be placed on the manager’s ability to see the big picture and be self-motivated as the subject matter expert for purchasing. Mining, construction, chemical, paper or steel industry experience would be a huge plus. Individual contributors with management skills or aspirations will be considered.

Required: Bachelors Degree. At least 3 years of Procurement experience. Proficiency with SAP systems and strong working knowledge of Excel, Access, etc. Diplomatic interpersonal skills.

Highly Desired: Six Sigma training and implementation. Intuitive expertise in Purchasing functions and strategies. Experience in large capital equipment expenditures. Strong professional drive.

They offer an attractive base salary 70-80k based on experience plus bonus and outstanding benefits as well as full relocation.
